At 8 am we gathered in the lobby of the hostel to leave for the metro to DJI, the famous drone company. When walking from the metro station to DJI, we yet again found out that Google maps is not very reliable in China, causing us to be slightly late at DJI. This was no problem however, because our contact person, Jessie, was even more late, due to the very busy traffic in Shenzhen.
The visit at DJI started with a tour around the showroom, where a lot of drones were on display.
Afterwards, Jessie gave a presentation about DJI in general, and the Robomaster competition. The Robomaster competition is a spectacular robot competition where every team builds 8 robots to fight other teams. The fighting consists of shooting plastic balls on the pressure sensitive plates of the opponent.
After a group photo the visit to DJI was finished, and the rest of the day consisted of free time.
A couple of us used this free time to take a taxi to the beach at Dameisha Seaside park. You need to scan a Chinese identification card to buy a ticket, which we don’t have, so we got in for free. At the security, we were told it was not allowed to bring a kite to the beach, and it was also not allowed to leave the kite at the security; we had to throw it away. However, after asking if we could hide it, the security guards laughed and it was fine.
It was a great afternoon at the beach; it was warm, but not too sunny and the water was 33°C!
In the evening, we had a nice dinner close to the hostel, and we tried to find a massage. Unfortunately, the massage place decided to close early this day. Some people spent the rest of the evening watching the movie “Cars” in the lobby of the hostel, but I went to bed early to get some much needed sleep.
